Kara Shaw, MSW, LCSW-A, LCAS-A

Kara brings over 16 years of experience working in community mental health and various
settings, helping adults of all ages and from all walks of life. As a kind, compassionate, and non-
judgmental clinician, she genuinely enjoys meeting people where they are and supporting them
on their unique journeys toward healing and growth.


Kara has worked with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including but not limited to
life transitions, work/school challenges, relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, bipolar,
psychosis, trauma, and substance use. With her extensive experience, she understands that each
person's path to healing is unique, and she is committed to providing personalized care. Kara
recognizes that the challenges people bring to therapy are often complex and multifaceted, and
she takes pride in walking alongside her clients as they navigate these intricacies.


Kara integrates a variety of therapeutic modalities tailored to each client’s needs and preferences.
She is trained in Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT),
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and Brainspotting. Kara is deeply client-
centered and encourages clients to explore their values, the changes they wish to see, and
provides nuanced support throughout the healing process.
Kara strives to create a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment where clients feel
understood, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes.
